Things to Do in Hawaii Away From the Beach
When considering a trip to Hawaii it is important to plan your itinerary ahead of time to make the most of your vacation. Check online to find things to do in Hawaii, specifically on the particular island you might be visiting.
Hawaii consists of six main islands; Hawaii “The Big Island”, Maui “The Valley Isle”, Kaho’olawe “The Target Isle”, Lanai “The Pineapple Isle”, Molokai “The Friendly Isle”, O’ahu “The Gathering Place”, Kauai “The Garden Isle” and Ni’ihau “The Forbidden Isle”.
Each of these islands are unique with their own beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, quaint small towns and exclusive world class resorts and one of a kind B&B’s. Most of the hotels can supply a list of things to do in Hawaii that surround their specific areas. Below is just a short list of some ideas for fun activities.
Things To Do In Hawaii -Surfing
Surfing may be one of the most popular things to do in Hawaii. Hawaii has some of the best known surfing spots in the world. There are surf breaks that can accommodate beginners to the highly skilled surfers. If you have never surfed before, several resorts offer surfing lessons. You can also check online to locate the perfect surfing spot to fit your particular need.
Things To Do In Hawaii -Snorkeling
Another great activity at the top of the list of things to do in Hawaii is snorkeling. The islands are surrounded by crystal clear, deep blue water, with great underwater visibility. Be sure to sign up for a snorkeling trip so that you can experience the beautiful coral growth, abundance of tropical fish, sea turtles and many other wonders of the ocean.
Things To Do In Hawaii -Exploring Volcanoes
Hawaii is probably one of the most geologically active areas on earth. You don’t want to pass up an opportunity to see a live lava flow or pass over an active volcano aboard a helicopter. Check with the hotel or resort where you are staying to schedule a tour.
Things To Do In Hawaii -Hiking & Exploring
The way to see unspoiled areas of any of the islands is to take a hiking day trip. “Hawaii: A Walker’s Guide” is a great resource for finding trails in the vicinity where you are staying. The Kalalau Trail or the Hankapiai Falls Trail are both examples of great hikes that offer spectacular views. As you hike winding trails you will walk through rain forests and swim in pools fed by gorgeous waterfalls.
Things To Do In Hawaii -Shopping, Swimming & Relaxing
On my list of things to do in Hawaii shopping in eclectic shops, swimming in the resort’s pool and just plain relaxing on my private lanai are all at the top. But for the younger, or more athletic and more adventurous travelers those listed above are just a taste of what you can find to do on any of Hawaii’s beautiful islands.
